I have decided to reduce Jets price to find him a home ASAP. I haven’t ridden for two weeks, dragged him out the field and went round the woods bareback. He didn’t put a hoof wrong, I think he was saving himself for the 100m climb back out the woods. I looked at the weather forecast – rain for 10 days….He’s far too good to be stood in field babysitting the colts (although he looks great because of it!). * Please note – if you want to jump him, he has power and will jump! This power will come out doing dressage I’m sure too but what I am saying is a little jump never feels like a little jump!
Jet is a wonderful, easy, experienced horse looking for another owner to give him his next adventure!
He has competed in:-
* Prelim and novice dressage (he should easily be doing elementary but 1) I’m no dressage rider and 2) Haven’t the time or facilities to practice regularly)
* 90cm Arena eventing qualifying for the championship and obtaining 3rd
* Working Equitation at GBPRE show – 3rd
* Hunter trials – no placings – just for fun!
* Easily jump around a 1m track
* Jumped to 150cm at Emley moor hunter trials in a ‘chase me charlie’ – jump couldn’t go any higher (mum was still in the competition!)
* Done camps – Aintree racecourse dressage camp and Somerford park SJ & XC camp
* He has given Working Equitation demonstrations at a local show and a country fair
* Ridden doma vaquera and done demonstrations
• Established leg yield, shoulder in, renvers, travers and half pass in trot – learning in canter. Started flying changes 85% accurate!
There’s probably more but that’s some of what he’s been up to. As you can see from the above activities he is very happy and very willing to do anything you ask.
He’s 100%:- to load and travel, shod all round as it’s so rocky here, clipping, dentist (done recently), vet (injections up to date), hacking – (gate boy!) not fazed by tractors and trailers, busses, lorries etc, will ride and lead very easy – don’t know what i’ve missed off but i’m sure he’s 100% in that! Often hacked out bareback in rope bridle – bit isn’t necessary as he listens very well to seat and leg aids. When he has a bit he’s ridden in a very mild neue schule eggbutt with lozenge – never strong even galloping through the fields! He lives out 24/7, 1,000ft above sea level in mixed herd on wild flower meadows so has no dietary problems or special requirements. He is fit and ready to go.
Jet is a very willing, kind, laid back, sweet horse who is always wanting to please his rider. For this reason, he needs a quiet rider as this can easily be spoilt. Although it looks like he has done a lot he has never been over worked, his work and training have been fairly relaxed so i’m sure with more consistent work he will do great things. I am selling him due to a surprise shire colt born and two other PRE colts ready for backing.
